Senior Vice President · Deal Lead
You run the transaction. A founding partner is named on it with you; the day-to-day, the buyer conversations and the timetable are yours.
What you will own
- Two to three live mandates at a time – sell-side full mandates and buy-side mandates – from readiness review to the wire.
- The buyer case for every prioritised buyer: who sponsors it internally, what their committee has approved before, what they will have to believe. You write it and you defend it.
- Valuation you will stand behind across the table, offer strategy, the negotiation of price and structure, diligence management and the economics of the purchase agreement alongside counsel.
- The founder relationship between partner calls: the weekly update, the hard conversation, the “not yet” when it is the right answer.
- Two analysts, whom you develop; the execution system, which you improve rather than tolerate.
What we need to see
- You have founded a technology company and sold it. Every role here requires it; the size of the exit matters less than what you learned between the first offer and the wire.
- Eight to fifteen years in M&A execution – at an independent adviser, an investment bank, in corporate development or private equity – with at least eight closed transactions where you ran the process, not the model.
- At least one closing on each side of the table, or a credible account of why one side taught you the other.
- You have told a client something they did not want to hear and can say what happened next.
- Fluency with the instruments – locked box and completion accounts, earn-outs and their definitions, W&I, escrow, rollover – and the ability to explain each to a founder in one sentence.
- Writing a buyer or a board would call clear. We will ask for a two-page transaction memo before the second interview.
- Respect for what a sale costs the person selling – because you have paid it.
How you will know you belong here. You will be the most senior person in the room who is not a founding partner, on mandates where the founder’s life savings are on the table and the buyer has done this a hundred times. If that sentence reads as pressure, this is not the role. If it reads as the job you have been waiting to be trusted with, it is.
